Once a 2 has been played, and the next player has picked up 2, the 2 which is face-up in the centre thereafter becomes a normal card and the third person may lay a card down on it by number or suit, without being forced to pick up two. *2*: If a player plays a 2, the player next after them must pick up two cards, unless they put down another 2, in which case the player after them picks up four, and so on, to a maximum of four successive 2s played, and eight cards picked up by the person at the end of the chain.
